Recall the history of the founding of SMK Plus Khoiriyah Hasyim through the 16th Anniversary Art Performance

Tebuireng.online- In commemoration of its 16th anniversary, SMK Plus Khoiriyah Hasyim Tebuireng held an art performance entitled “Embroidering Culture, Weaving Heritage, Weaving the Future” on Tuesday (16/12/2025). The activity took place in the school yard and was attended by more than 100 students and teachers.

The event began with remarks from the Head of SMK Plus Khoriyah Hasyim Tebuireng, Feri Sriafandi. He appreciated the hard work of all students and the committee to make this event possible. Many students come home from school enthusiastically preparing this art performance. Feri hopes that this activity can provide entertainment and relieve fatigue before the holidays. Not to forget, he also advised students to maintain their alma mater when they return to their hometowns, while maintaining their manners, behavior and character as students.

“Hopefully your parents will smile when you come home, and today will truly be a moment to embroider culture, weave heritage, and weave a brighter future,” he said.

The next speech by the chairman of the committee, M. Najhul Fahmi, explained that the big title of this year’s event was Indirizzo Fest, which means vocational school at vocational school which is not far from art. He hopes that this activity will continue to develop and be better than previous years. “Keep working, don’t let your talent get hidden, and stay yourself,” he advised his friends.

Apart from that, there was also a presentation of historical material at SMK Plus Khoiriyah Hasyim Tebuireng by Mr. Muhammadan Huddin, S.Kom. He explained the long journey of the school which was founded in 2009 under the Khoiriyah Hasyim Seblak Foundation. Until 2015, SMK was managed under the auspices of the Hasyim Asy’ari Foundation, with initial conditions not having its own building. In the 2015–2016 period, teaching and learning activities took place in the Unhasy building which was rented for two years. It was at that time that the school principal at that time, Hadi Mulyono, and his team made a big struggle so that the vocational school could have its own building.

This struggle bore fruit with the existence of a land waqf in the Mojosongo area. Through foundation support, a school building was built which began use in 2017 with initial facilities in the form of an office and three classrooms. Development continued until around 2018–2019, when male students from the main school were transferred to this location and construction of the dormitory was carried out in stages. In 2019, at the direction of Gus Sholah, SMK was asked to open a new department. Of the three available options, DKV, Culinary Design, and Fashion Design, the Visual Communication Design (DKV) major was chosen as the most feasible major, so the upper building and laboratory were built.

“From 2009 to 2025 it has been 16 years, hopefully at the age of 17 there will be additional new majors, and there will be even more students,” he hoped.

There was also the presentation of the SMK Plus Khoiriyah Hasyim Tebuireng anniversary trophy by the committee to Royhan Sukondo, as part of a series of events. There were various art performances performed by SMK Plus Khoiriyah Hasyim students, including the Warok, Bujang Ganong, and Barong Devil dances, fashion shows, performances by the Brajadenta, Wijoyo Kusumo, and Ajisaka classes, to the closing performance of One Last Day which added to the lively atmosphere.

Furthermore, a positive impression was conveyed by Koni, Arts and Culture Teacher at SMK Plus Khoiriyah Hasyim Tebuireng. He assessed that this year’s arts performance was neater, more entertaining and better than the previous year. He considered the braided horse-like appearance to be very good. As for arts and culture, he believes that Khoiriyah Hasyim Vocational School students have advantages in creativity even though they face various obstacles.

“The hope is that in the future SMK will be more advanced, its events will be bigger and more luxurious,” he concluded when interviewed.
