Tebuireng.online– Entering the 2nd century, HM Nasruddin Anshoriy Ch., the speaker who discussed the “Road Map for the Transformation of Qanun Asasi: Building a Sustainable Civilization”, reminded NU not to get caught up in historical romanticism. As the largest ulama organization, according to him, NU is required to carry out total transformation or reinventing the organization by strengthening the cultural ecosystem and digital sovereignty in order to navigate increasingly complex global realities.

This emerged in the Roundtable Discussion entitled “Dissecting the Genealogy and Transformation of Al-Qanun Al-Asasi” which was held on Saturday (14/2/2026). On this occasion, HM Nasruddin Anshoriy Ch., emphasized that the Qanun Asasi formulated by Hadratussyaikh KH. M. Hasyim Asy’ari is not just an administrative document, but an ontological proclamation that connects social reality with the will of heaven.

In his presentation, Nasruddin motivated NU members to take an active role in changing times. “Don’t just be a witness to history, be a writer and perpetrator of history. Because Qanun Asasi was not written to be read once, but to be lived many times in every heartbeat of devotion,” he stressed in front of the discussion participants.

According to Nasruddin, reinventing an organization must touch on four crucial aspects: jurisprudence, economics, Sufism and culture. In the aspect of jurisprudence, NU must have the courage to move from a defensive-conservative pattern to transformative jurisprudence that responds to contemporary issues such as ethics, AI artificial intelligence, and bioethics.

Then, in the economic sector, the spirit of Nahdlatut Tujjar must be revived through a circular economy model based on Islamic boarding schools. This includes energy independence and waste management as a concrete manifestation of the principle hifdzul bi’ah (protecting the environment). Islamic boarding schools are expected to become the epicenter of organic civilization that is able to filter the flow of globalization without losing its original identity.

Facing the era of disruption, digitalization has become a fixed price. Nasruddin proposed developing the Aswaja Algorithm to fight religious hoaxes and provide quick references to moderate Islamic law. Besides, tradition tabayyun must be transformed into popular culture among digital students as a trusted information verification system.

“It was further explained that reinventing the organization is an effort to ensure that differences of opinion in the digital era actually become a wealth of innovation for the benefit of the people or Ishlahul Ummah,” he added. “By strengthening its legal standing which combines the sharpness of jurisprudence and the depth of Sufism, it is believed that NU will remain relevant until Golden Indonesia 2045.

Then it was also explained that NU’s future vision also touched on social spatial planning, where the Islamic boarding school was projected as an inclusive “Open City”. Islamic boarding schools are no longer isolated, but have become the center of gravity for regional development that implements sustainable architecture.

Not only that, he also said that all transformation strategies must be based on a spirit of compassion. As Hadratussyaikh’s message was, NU must continue to display a shady or shady face of Islam smiling Islam, legal position “We are not only on paper, but in the hearts of every human being who longs for justice,” explained Nasruddin.
