Carrying the theme “Science Breakthroughs”, Tebuireng Science Middle School displays 40 student innovation products

Tebuireng.online— The Tebuireng Jombok Science Middle School product exhibition event, which was initiated in 2023, continues to be present every year, this time the science exhibition and performance carries the theme “Science Breakthroughs: Architecting the Nations Future” which is attended directly by Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School Teacher KH. Abdul Hakim Machfudz, Mrs. Nyai Farida Salahudin Wahid, Head of the Science Boarding School, Head of Middle School, teachers and staff, as well as hundreds of student guardians who joined in enlivening the event on Saturday (31/1/2026).

The event took place in the center field of the Science Middle School, on either side of the stage there was an exhibition stand filled with 40 products made by 9th grade students of the Science Middle School, ranging from tea, soap, antiseptics, bricks, herbal medicine, and many others. This annual program aims to show students’ creativity in creating innovative products based on science and technology.

The principal of Tebuireng Science Middle School, Ustadz Khairul Anam, expressed his appreciation to the board of teachers who had guided their students so that they were able to create a product which is now on display. “Hopefully the teacher council’s hard work in guiding will become a record of charity for all of you,” he said.

He talked a little about the preparations before the event, “Preparations have started from the first semester, the children have also started thinking about it a long time ago, for the competence of junior high school graduates who must have products that can be utilized and accounted for,” he explained.

Ustadz Anam also hopes that in the next 10 to 20 years, scientists will emerge from Tebuireng because science and technology are increasingly developing. “From 195 grade 9 students, there are now 123 who are continuing in Tebuireng,” he said on the podium.

The second speech was delivered by the Teacher of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, KH. Abdul Hakim Machfudz. He emphasized that education in Tebuireng must still maintain religious education, “the religious foundation must be strong but also master technology, graduates from here must also be able to master that, this is the moral character of Tebuireng graduates,” he stressed.

Hadratussyaikh’s great-grandson also gave advice to all students, that to be a Tebuireng graduate you must have the courage to enter society, “Tebuireng graduates must be able to enter society and become figures, as proven in the past, many Tebuireng alumni figures were trained to be brave and stand out in society,” he said.

Finally, he also gave a way to blend in with society, “what is the key, to blend in with society? based on religion, his heart is connected to Allah,” he concluded

Not only science exhibitions and performances, in the series of events there are also scientific orations featuring Prof. Masykuri Bakri. He said that the things that students are doing today could be extraordinary preparations if they were done seriously and maturely. Even today the world of research is needed everywhere.

“Science Middle School graduates can become leaders in the research field. Leader in the field of Literacy. “You will and must be at the forefront,” he said.

Apart from that, the chairman of the science product display committee, Ustadz Mulya Afif, revealed that there had been developments in this event compared to last year, “This year it has increased even more and it is extraordinary that the products have increased from 35 to 40 now. The enthusiasm of santri guardians is very large, there were 1000 santri guardians who attended in 2 days,” he explained.

Ustadz Afif also revealed that this year’s budget had increased, “This year we spent a budget of 153 million, well that came from the foundation, then the shortfall was met by student fees per child, 50k, attendance tickets for the santri guardians per person, 50k, and donations, there were even millions in donations,”

The guardian of the Islamic boarding school from Nayla, Mr. Sugiharto, admitted that he was pleased with the innovation of these junior high school science students, “Thank God, from what we have seen, many innovations need to be further fostered, such as they can be promoted or their economic value can be made more likely to be given additional funds for experiments”, the ideas may also be added to, and can be refined further,” said the Islamic boarding school guardian from Tuban.

Not only Sugiharto, Sari guardian of students from Kanaya As Zahira was also proud to see all the exhibition products, “It’s really cool for a junior high school student but he already knows the tools that he should be studying for, he just finds creative ideas, he can take advantage of things around him. “Hopefully all these products can be produced on a large scale in the future,” he hoped.

This year’s science exhibition and performance will be held for 2 days, namely Saturday 31 January – Sunday 1 February 2026 at the same place and at the same time, but with different speakers.

On the sidelines of the event there was also a raffle for prizes which were available from the school and from student guardians who volunteered to donate various items, coupons were available for all guests and students who attended this event.
