Tebuireng.online- Efforts to increase food security while developing entrepreneurial spirit among the younger generation are shown by students in grade 7 and 8 of Persada Insan Nusantara Middle School, the education unit at the Abdul Djamil Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School 17. On Friday, September 26, 2023, they succeeded in harvesting organic vegetables for the third time.
The organic garden managed by the santri has been pioneered since the beginning of the year by using the method of agriculture friendly and free of harmful chemicals. The harvested vegetables include Pakcoy Sawi, Pagoda mustard greens, and kale. This delicious and healthy harvest is an ideal choice for consumers who care about health.
Harvest activities took place lively and attended by the Principal of the School KH. Mohammad Husain, S.Pd., M.Sc., Entrepreneurship Teachers and Natural Sciences, Santri Trustees, Parents, and the Surrounding Community. Santri looked enthusiastic when picking vegetables and explaining the process of growth to the visitors.
Ms. Yesi Dyah Septiani, SP, Entrepreneurship Teacher, explained that this activity was a real implementation of life skills education (life skills).
“In addition to teaching farming skills, this activity instills the value of hard work, responsibility, and entrepreneurial spirit to the students,” said Ms. Yesi. He hopes that this success will become a provision of knowledge that is beneficial for students in the future.
The same spirit was expressed by the students. One of them, Azami, who stated his happiness to see the results of their hard work. “We hope to practice knowledge and become an expertise in the field of entrepreneurship later,” he said. Another santri, Faiz, added that this activity not only produced healthy vegetables, but also maintaining environmental sustainability.
Harvest as a forum for the interaction of the producer-consumer

The important part of this activity is the sale of harvests. Santri directly markets their organic vegetables to parents of students and the community, creating a closer relationship between producers and consumers. This provides valuable experience in entrepreneurship.
The success of the organic vegetable harvest in Persada Insan Nusantara Middle School is proof that education does not only lie in theory, but also in real practices that are beneficial to themselves and the community. Through this business, the students are expected to continue to develop businesses, inspire future generations, and take part in maintaining national food security.
