Four Easy Ways to Achieve Knowledge According to the Book â € ˜ayn al-dhzaab

In the book â € ˜ayn al-zahab fi halli alfazh manzhumah adab al-thalab, â It is stated that science will not be obtained except in four main ways. The author of the book conveys this in the form of a nadzam stanza:

“Know that knowledge is gained through learning, memorizing, pursuing, and understanding.

This stanza explains that there are four main conditions that must be met so that someone can get knowledge correctly and in depth. The following explanation of each of these conditions:

1. Taâ € ™ allum (Study)

Learning is the first step in gaining knowledge. In Islam, learning is not just reading or listening, but also a serious effort to understand and believe what is learned. Say taâ € ™ allum Demonstrate an active process in seeking knowledge, which is present at the Science Council, asking the teacher, and continuously adding insight.

People who really learn will realize that they have the responsibility to understand the contents of the knowledge, not just to know it at a glance.

2. Hospice (Memorized)

After studying, the next step is to memorize. The knowledge that has been obtained must be stored well in memory and heart, so that it is not easily forgotten. In this context, memorizing not only storing information, but also maintaining knowledge to stay alive and ready to use whenever needed. However, it is important to remember that memorization without understanding is not enough. Knowledge that is only memorized but not understood can be shallow and easily lost. Therefore, memorization must be accompanied by a good understanding.

3. Itqan (Carefully pursued)

Trust and perseverance in learning and memorizing. This is a level higher than just knowing or remembering. Mutqin people (thorough and expert) will understand knowledge in depth, not easily confused, and strong in giving or applying it.

A person may not memorize textually, but if he pursues his knowledge seriously, then he will have a strong understanding and not easily hesitate in facing various tests.

4. Tafahhum (Understanding)

Understanding is the core of science. In Arabic, the word Tafahhum shows the process of understanding gradually and deeply. This is not only a matter of knowing the contents of a science, but also aware of its meaning and context, and is able to explain or teach it to others.

Knowledge that is truly understood will be more easily applied and more useful in life. Therefore, learning without true understanding cannot be called a perfect science.
