My sister, smoking is one way to attack your body, according to the doctor’s approval. This is one of the customs that has spread in society even though it is very detrimental to it. The cigarettes consumed by smokers are made from a plant called “tobacco”, which is a narcotic substance that tastes bitter and contains toxic substances. It was given to some dogs and cats, making them sick and disgusting, and the smoke went up. Cigarettes contain a type of deadly poison that affects the smoker’s body. It’s all in the smoke you consume. Some cause irritation to the skin, others cause spitting, coughing and the appearance of a yellow color in smokers. Attempts have been made to remove this poison, but have failed. Now we mention the dangers of smoking:
O my brothers, young generation! Smoking is one way to damage your body that all doctors agree on. Smoking is a habit that is widely spread in society even though it contains many dangers. Cigarettes consumed by smokers come from a plant called tobacco, which is a bitter and addictive substance, containing many toxic compounds. Even dogs and cats are reluctant to eat it when it is served to them because they feel disgusted by it.
The smoke that comes out of cigarettes contains many deadly toxins that can have a negative effect on the smoker’s body. Everything is found in the cigarettes you consume. Some of them can cause the skin to become rough, and other compounds can increase saliva production, cause coughing, and cause a yellow color to the smoker’s body. There have been many studies to eliminate these toxins, but none have produced positive results. Now let’s discuss some of the dangers of smoking:
First: The dangers of smoking for health:
In fact, smoking is considered the worst enemy of health, and we will mention some of the dangers that smoking poses to human health, without ignoring its ways and anomalies:
1- The poisons we mentioned destroy the thin membrane that covers the vocal cords, causing hoarseness in smokers.
2- Smoking causes shortness of breath. As a result of damage to the air sacs in the lungs, it causes a sore throat.
3- Weakens the sense of smell, taste, vision and the ability to distinguish colors.
4- Increases the number of heart beats, resulting in a heart attack.
5- Toxins accumulate in the liver, so smokers feel tired and tired with any effort. Because the liver cannot withstand toxins in that amount.
6- High blood pressure and arteriosclerosis, which causes sudden death.
7- One of the doctors proved that smoking is a direct cause of lung cancer. He brought a number of mice and rubbed cigarette smoke solution on their skin. Fifteen days later, a cancerous tumor appeared. Lung cancer is also rare in non-smokers. In 1963, 25,000 people died of the disease in England, and 41,000 in America.
8- Excessive coughing in smokers, and smoking also causes cessation of body growth.
9- Smoking weakens the nerves and brain. Because it causes temporary healing, so smokers feel comfortable when smoking.
10- A smoker should not engage in any sporting activity, and if he does, he will be shaken.
First: The dangers of smoking in terms of body health
Actually, smoking is one of the most stubborn enemies of health. We will mention some of the dangers that smoking poses to human health in general – ignoring smoking style factors and certain exceptional cases –:
- The poisons we have mentioned can harm the thin membrane that covers the vocal cords, causing a hoarse voice in smokers.
- Cigarettes cause shortness of breath due to damage to the air sacs in the lungs, and cause a sore throat.
- Reduces the sensitivity of the senses of smell, taste and sight, as well as the ability to distinguish colors.
- Increases heart rate, which can cause a heart attack.
- These toxins will accumulate in the liver, so that smokers will feel tired and tired even from light work, because the liver is not able to filter such large amounts of toxins.
- Increases blood pressure and hardens blood vessels which can cause sudden death.
- A doctor has proven that smoking is a direct cause of lung cancer. The doctor conducted experiments on a number of mice and placed a solution of cigarette smoke on their skin. After 15 days, cancerous lumps appeared in the mice. Lung cancer is also rare in non-smokers. The number of deaths from this disease in 1963 in England was 25 thousand people, while in America it was 41 thousand people.
- Smokers often experience coughing. Cigarettes can also stop body growth.
- Cigarettes can make the nerves and brain work harder, because cigarettes can provide temporary stimulation, so that smokers will feel temporary calm when smoking.
- Smokers cannot exercise well. When exercising, he will get tired quickly.
Second: The psychological impact of smoking:
1- Decreased level of intelligence.
2- The smoker’s love of domination.
3- Nervous mood, anxiety and distraction.
4- The personality traits of smokers do not vary, but fluctuate (bright).
Second: The dangers of smoking from a mental perspective
- Lowering the level of intelligence.
- Like arbitrary.
- Easily angry, restless and confused.
- Smokers’ facial expressions are not good, and they often have doubts.
Third: Social and economic damage:
1- It was found that the expenditure of 60 million smokers in America is equal to 4 billion dollars a year… (Think about it).
2- Causes most fires due to the movement of cigarette residue.
3- Spending money is waste and disobedience to God.
4- The smell is detrimental and annoying to people who do not use it.
Third: The dangers of smoking from an economic and social perspective
- It is known that the money spent by 60 million smokers in America reaches 4 billion dollars in one year.
- The majority of fires are caused by ignition from cigarette butts.
- Buying cigarettes is a form of waste and spending wealth in disobedience.
- The smell of cigarettes bothers other people who don’t smoke.
How to stop smoking:
Once you are convinced of the harmful effects of smoking on yourself and your society, I hope you decide to quit and stay away from it, and your question now is: How do I stop smoking?
The answer: Follow these steps, and may God grant you success:
1- Learn about the dangers, be confident about them, and start thinking about leaving them, and be determined to do so, while still relying on God.
2- Make a daily list of shortcomings towards yourself, your friends, your children and your neighbors.
3- As far as possible stay away from smokers and the smell of cigarettes, try to be in the open air, and do useful things.
4- If you – O Muslims – realize the dangers of smoking, and realize its haraam, then you are obliged to do the following: hate it for Allah’s sake, leave it for Allah’s sake, avoid sitting with people who smoke.
5- Use miswak or chewing gum if you want to smoke. Siwak is more useful than anything.
6- Drink less coffee and tea, and eat more fruit and delicious food without spices.
7- Drink a cup of lemon, grape or orange juice every day after breakfast. Because it reduces the intensity of the desire to smoke.
8- And know, whoever leaves something for Allah, Allah will reward him with something better, sooner or later.
How to stop smoking?
Once you accept the reality of the dangers of smoking to yourself and your community, I hope you can determine to stop smoking and stay away from it. So your question now is, how can I leave it?
The answer is to follow these steps, may Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala give you taufik:
- Know the dangers and believe in them. Then start thinking about leaving it and make up your mind with your trust in Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala.
- Write down every day a list of the bad things smoking does to you, your friends, your children and your neighbors.
- Avoid smokers and the smell of cigarettes as much as possible. Try to always be in an environment with fresh air and keep yourself busy with useful things.
- If you already know the dangers of smoking and are sure that it is haram, then you should do the following: Hate cigarettes because of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, stop smoking because of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, and avoid interacting with smokers.
- Use miswak or chewing gum when you feel like smoking. However, using miswak is better than others.
- Reduce consumption of coffee and tea! Eat more fruit and healthy foods that don’t use spices.
- Drink every day after breakfast a glass of lemon, grape or orange juice, as it will reduce the strong urge to smoke.
- Know that the person who leaves something because of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, He will replace him with something better, whether sooner or later.
1- Smoking is a habit, and habits change, as is known.
2- Quitting smoking is not impossible, but rather one of the simplest things. All you have to do is follow the methods that work and are proven, and don’t stop and come back, and never be afraid of anything if you decide to stop.
3- Islamic scholars and legal experts concluded that smoking is prohibited, and they agree with it. Because – as you can see – it is harmful to health, a waste of money, irritates the nerves and smells bad.
4- Before buying smoke and drinking it, think: Is it prohibited or allowed? Is it beneficial or detrimental? Is he good or bad? You will find it forbidden, dangerous and evil.
5- If it is proven that the smoke is haram, then its sale, purchase and price are haram. Because if Allah has forbidden something, then He has forbidden the price.
May God give success to everyone in leaving it and leaving everything that is forbidden.
Notes:
- Smoking is a habit, and every habit can be changed, as we all know.
- Quitting smoking is not impossible. In fact, that is the easiest thing. You just need to follow the steps that have been tested. Don’t just stop smoking for a moment and then relapse. Don’t be afraid of anything if you are determined to leave it.
- Islamic law scholars and fiqh experts have concluded and agreed on the prohibition of smoking, because cigarettes – as you know – are harmful to the body, waste wealth, weaken the nerves, and have an unpleasant aroma.
- Before you buy and consume cigarettes, think first, is it haram or halal? Is it beneficial or harmful? Is that good or bad? You will undoubtedly conclude that smoking is haram, dangerous and bad.
- If it has been confirmed that cigarettes are haram, then buying and selling them and the money paid for them are also haram, because if Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala has made something haram, then the money paid is also haram.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala give taufik to all smokers to stop smoking and abandon everything that is haram.
