Humans by nature love themselves, their existence and perfection, and according to their nature they like anyone who does good to them. This should be the cause of his highest love for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. Because how can it be imagined that someone loves himself, but does not love his God who is the source of his existence, existence, continuity and perfection? How can it be imagined that someone loves another human being who has done good to him, but does not love the Substance who has bestowed all forms of unlimited goodness on him? Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says:
And whatever blessings you receive, come from God
“And whatever blessings you have, then (all) are from Allah.” (QS. An-Nahl: 53).
Imam Al-Ghazali said: “The explanation is, suppose there is a person who gives you all his property and wealth, and gives you permission to spend it as you wish, you would think that it is his kindness, but that is wrong. Actually, that person’s goodness is only through his wealth, his control over it, and his impulse to give it to you. However, who actually created that person, created his wealth, and created his desire and impulse to give? And actually who made you love him, made you gravitate towards him, and instilled in him that if it were not for that encouragement, he would not have given the property to you, so (because of that impulse) it was as if he was forced to hand over the property to you without being able to resist it. Thus, the one who did good was actually Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala who forced him (with that impulse) and subdued him for you.”
Then has your heart felt love for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala?
Love for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala will not be strong in a person’s heart unless he empties it of anything other than Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, and cuts off all ties with the world and creatures. Because how can your love for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala be strong, while your heart is still dependent on the world and its contents, or dependent on His creatures? How is it possible that the love for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala in your heart is in line with the love for His creatures?
Meanwhile, if you pray to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, He grants it, if you ask Him, He grants it. Meanwhile, if you ask someone for something, they will get angry, turn away from you, and turn away from you as if they never knew you! Allah is Most Merciful, Most Giving, and Most Merciful. In fact, as the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam said:
He is more merciful to His servant than this woman is to her child
“Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala loves His servants more than this mother loves her child.” (HR. Al-Bukhari. Sahih Hadith, mentioned in Al-Jami ash-Saheeh Number 5999).
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, the Almighty, forgives, forgives, erases sins and covers disgrace. However, humans, if they had power in their hands, would not be willing to let their brothers go to heaven, because humans are stingy, even in giving love. This has become his habit. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says:
And the guy is stingy
“And humans are very stingy.” (QS. Al-Isra: 100).
And this verse is mentioned in the context of a discussion about grace.
Therefore, people who want to perform the Hajj pilgrimage are obliged to apologize to their fellow humans, because human rights are built on the basis of greed. Meanwhile, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, He is Most Forgiving, Most Extensive in His Forgiveness, Most Accepting of Repentance, Multiplies Good Deeds, and Forgives Mistakes. He is the one who reveals disaster after it befalls us, He is our hope and hope. O our Lord, all praise is due to You, praise commensurate with the majesty of Your face and the greatness of Your power, praise that is abundant, good and full of blessings.
O you who, when I said, “O my lord Lubbani,” “O man, he has no second person in his kingdom.”
O Being that if I cry out, “O Lord!”, He answers me. O Almighty, there are no partners in His kingdom
I was disobedient and you covered me, I forgot and you reminded me, then how can I forget you, O you who have not forgotten me?
I sinned, but You covered my disgrace, I forgot, but You remembered me. How can I forget You, O One who never forgets me
After all this, is your heart still not filled with love for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala?
Love for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala will not be strong unless you know Him, because pleasure in the heart will not arise except through knowledge about Him. So there is nothing that can lead a servant to this knowledge except – as Imam Al-Ghazali said -: “Clear intellect, solemn remembrance, sincerity in seeking Him, and seeking His guidance through His deeds.
The existence of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, His power, His knowledge, and all His other attributes have been witnessed definitely by everything we see, rocks, trees, soil, plants, animals, earth, sky, stars, land and sea, even our first witness is our soul and body, changes in our circumstances, changes in the condition of our hearts, and all our movements.”
When knowledge is achieved, it will be followed by love. If I knew, is there anything in this universe that is greater, higher, noble, perfect, and greater than the Creator, Deliverer, Manifestation, Repeater of Creation, and Ruler of this universe?
Al-Hasan Al-Basri said: “Indeed, people who know their Lord must love Him, and people who know the reality of the world must be ascetic towards it.”
He also said: “People who know their Lord are obliged to love Him. As for those who love other than Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala not out of love for Him, then it is because of ignorance and low knowledge of Him. They return to primary love, and indeed there is no lover for people of understanding except Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, and no one has the right to be loved except Him.”
People who love their Creator will definitely carry out their obedience, worship and approach to Him seriously, without getting tired or bored. Maybe the body can be tired, but the heart is not tired.
Farqad As-Sabakhi said: “I once read in one of the books: Whoever loves Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, then he does not prioritize anything other than what He wills.
Lovers of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala never get bored of continuing to do good deeds for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. They love Him, like to mention Him, try to make other people love Him, always give advice to His servants, and worry about their fate for their deeds on the Day of Judgment, the day when all evil will be revealed. They are the guardians, lovers and chosen people of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. They are the ones who do not feel at ease except by meeting Him.”
Imam Al-Ghazali said: “Know that the happiest and best person in the afterlife is the person whose love for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala is strongest. Because the afterlife means coming to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, and achieving the joy of meeting Him. How great a lover’s pleasure is when he comes to meet his beloved after a long longing! He can look at her without distractions and obstacles! It’s just that the magnitude of this pleasure is according to the level of his love, the greater the love, the greater the pleasure.”
Among the fruits of love are gaining peace of mind when with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, praying to Him, reading His Book, taking advantage of the calm of the night without distractions to face Him, because the lowest level of love is feeling pleasure when being alone with your lover and liking chatting with him.
O negligent person, and the Almighty protects him from all evil that creeps in the darkness.
O negligent human being, when the Almighty takes care of him. From all the evil that creeps in the darkness
How can the eyes fall asleep when they see a king receiving the benefits of blessings?
How can eyes be closed from the Supreme King. From Him all forms of enjoyment
Al-Hasan said: “Whoever is satisfied with the sustenance given to him, then Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala will make room and bless that sustenance for him.
Makhul said: “I once heard Ibn Umar Radhiyallahu ‘anhuma say: There was someone who was istikharah to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, then Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala gave him a choice, but then he was not satisfied with that choice. Not long afterward he saw the result of the matter, and it turned out that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala had chosen the best for him.”
This really happens, if we understand Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, how many matters that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala determines which actually contain tenderness, mercy and all goodness for us!
How many trials and tribulations behind them contain rewards and benefits! How many trials contain an increase in degrees! O Lord, how glorious You are, how gentle You are, and how vast Your mercy!
O Being whose mercy covers everything, O Being who is more merciful than the mother who gave birth to us! O Lord, when the means are exhausted, the way is dead, hope is lost, help is cut off, the chest becomes narrow, matters become very difficult, and the doors are closed before us, then we cry out, “O Lord!” then tenderness, care, help, assistance, compassion and kindness come from You.
Palms are extended to Allah at the end of the night, hands are extended when need strikes, eyes are bowed when in trouble, and prayers are offered when disaster strikes. With His name, it is continuously spoken verbally, asked for help, called and called upon. By mentioning Him, the heart becomes calm, the soul becomes peaceful, the feelings become peaceful, and the nerves become relaxed, then the belief becomes firmer that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala is gentle with His servants.
After all this, your heart still doesn’t feel love for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala?
It was narrated by several people who were tortured in the way of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, that they said: “If we were mutilated piece by piece, nothing would increase in us except love for Him.”
O Allah, we ask You for satisfaction after Your decree, for peace in life after death, for the pleasure of seeing Your face, and longing to meet You. Amen. Walhamdulillah rabbil ‘alamin.
