Deputy Head of Ma’had Aly Tebuireng Wins 3rd Place in the GTK Achievement Award from the Ministry of Religion Jombang 2025

Deputy Director for Islamic Affairs, Ma’had Aly Hasyim Asy’ari, Dr. Mohammad Hamsa Fauriz, S.Pd.I., MH, successfully won 3rd place in the Achievement Teacher, Head and Supervisor (GTK) Award at the Jombang Regency level in 2025. This award was held by the Ministry of Religion of Jombang Regency to commemorate the 80th Charity Day (HAB) of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion.

Dr. Hamsa explained that the GTK Award was a form of appreciation from the Ministry of Religion for educational people who excel. “This award is to give appreciation to teachers, madrasa heads and supervisors who excel at the Jombang Regency level,” he said.

He said, the GTK Award is an annual agenda organized by the Jombang Regency Ministry of Religion to commemorate the Ministry of Religion’s Charity Day. “The GTK Award event is held every year in the framework of the Ministry of Religion’s HAB, and in 2025 it will coincide with the 80th HAB,” he explained.

The selection process until he was chosen as champion was not short. He said that there were several stages that participants had to go through. “The stages start from sending the portfolio, then selecting the portfolio, determining the finalists, and finally the best practice presentation and interview with the jury,” he said.

In the Madrasah Aliyah Teacher category, the initial selection was attended by 24 state and private MA teachers throughout Jombang Regency. From this number, six finalists were selected who advanced to the grand final. Meanwhile, overall the GTK Award competes in nine categories, starting from RA teachers to madrasa supervisors and PAIS.

The grand final of the GTK Award will be held on December 17 2025 and will take place at MAN 1 Jombang. Dr. Hamsa revealed that one of the factors that contributed to achieving this award was his commitment to improving his own competence. “I continue to actively improve my competence by participating in various seminars, training and scientific activities that educate,” he said.

He also emphasized the big role the work environment plays in supporting his professional development. “The madrasah leaders, especially the Head of MASS Seblak, Mr. Budi Santoso, S.Pd.I., really supported me in taking part in training, seminars, short courses and other competency development activities, including taking part in the GTK Award,” he said.

In the midst of the dynamics of educational transformation, Dr. Hamsa believes that teachers must have a main value that is balanced between outer and inner intelligence. “Teachers nowadays, apart from having to be physically intelligent, also have to be mentally intelligent. “Inner intelligence is good or noble morals,” he stressed.

He also interpreted the 80th anniversary of HAB as a moment for reflection. “This HAB commemoration should not only be intended to become a champion, but more than that as a form of attention from the Ministry of Religion to GTK who excel, as well as a forum for increasingly competing in goodness,” he said.

Regarding the impact of the award, he hopes that the GTK Award can encourage improvements in the quality of national education. “Educating does not only make students smart, but also makes them correct. “Smart in his thinking and intelligence, and correct in his behavior and morals,” he said.

At the end of the interview, Dr. Hamsa expressed his hopes for the world of education, especially Ma’had Aly under the auspices of the Ministry of Religion. “Hopefully the spirit of making the nation’s life smarter is based on sincerity and selfless sincerity. “For Ma’had Aly, hopefully it will become a place to produce a superior generation that is intelligent and spiritual, useful for this world and the hereafter,” he said.
